Car Insurance In Mt. Horeb, WI

In nearly every state in the United States, liability car insurance is required to drive legally because it helps pay for damage and injuries that you may cause to others in the event of an accident. Liability coverage also helps pay for any legal fees in the event of a civil claim seeking damages because of an accident. Optional physical damage coverages, both on the comprehensive and collision level, pay for damages to your own vehicle regardless of who is at fault for the accident. Although it costs the average driver more than $1,000 annually for full coverage car insurance, there are several ways that it can save you a lot of money.

With full coverage you are financially protected in the event of an accident. Without car insurance you would have to pay out-of-pocket for accidents and injuries you may cause. When you carry full coverage your home, savings and assets aren’t at risk should you be so unfortunate that you cause an accident. Even if you are at fault, you will be reimbursed so you can repair your car after an accident.

Types of Car Insurance Coverage

Liability

This type of policy pays for property damages and injuries you cause to others while driving. You’re also covered for any legal costs with liability coverage. If you rear-end another vehicle and you cause damage to the vehicle and/or injure the other driver, the policy pays for, up to your policy’s limits, the other driver’s car repairs and injuries. In addition, any costs associated with any potential lawsuit are covered. There’s no deductible required with a liability only policy.

Comprehensive and Collision

Comprehensive pays to repair or replace your vehicle if it’s damaged from an event beyond your control: theft, hitting an animal, vandalism, fire loss, acts of nature or glass damage. Collision covers damages to your vehicle if you’re in an accident, regardless of who is at fault. If your vehicle is totaled during a major hailstorm while parked outside and you have comprehensive coverage, we pay the full amount for the current value of your vehicle, minus your deductible. If you back out of your garage, hit your trash dumpster, and cause $2,000 worth of damage to your vehicle. Simply put, with collision coverage we pay to repair your vehicle, minus your deductible.

Medical Payments

This coverage is for medical costs in the event you, your family members, or anyone in or around the accident are injured, regardless of who is at fault. Let’s say that your newly-licensed teenage neighbor drives your child to school and on the way, they are in an accident. If your child is injured and there is a $1,500 medical bill, Medical Payments will cover the bill up to the limits of your policy. No deductible applies for this payout.

Rental Car Reimbursement

A rental car reimbursement pays for your rental car fees while your vehicle is being repaired from a covered loss. If your car is severely damaged in an accident and repairs will take a week you will probably need another form of transportation so that your life can go on. When you carry rental car reimbursement, we will pay for your rental car fees up to the limits that you choose for your policy.

Loan or Lease payoff

Another term for this type of coverage is “gap insurance.” In the event you are in an accident and your vehicle is considered a total loss, we will help pay off the balance of your loan up to 125% of your vehicle’s current value. For example, when you finance a vehicle and the amount you borrow is $30,000. The moment you drive off the lot, your new vehicle always immediately loses value and could only be worth $25,000. If you have an accident soon after you purchase your vehicle is totaled, you are still responsible for the $30,000 loan amount. This coverage is designed to cover the “gap”, or difference.

About Mt. Horeb, WI

The Village of Mount Horeb was given its name by an Englishman and not by the Norwegians which is a common belief in the area. George Wright was born in England in 1824. A few months after his marriage in 1848, he was licensed as a lay minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church. In that same year the Wright family immigrated to America. In 1858, the family moved to Blue Mounds Township to a farm home, way out on the prairie.

Mr. Wright became active in Blue Mounds Township as it grew and served as town treasurer and also held office in the legislature for a term. During the civil war he carried the role of assistant provost Marshall. This led to his appointment as postmaster of the new post office, which was to serve settlers in the eastern part of the township. In 1861, the post office was located in his farm home which allowed him the privilege to give it a name. After searching scriptures, he selected the name “Mount Horeb.” He chose it from the many references to the mounts in scripture given the high elevation of his land and the beauty of the surrounding area.

In 1867, when the Wright family moved to Norwalk, IA, the post office was a moved to a little settlement called the “Corners” which became “Horeb’s Corners”. Later, “Mount Horeb” was recorded as the official name.

Located in Southwest Wisconsin, Mount Horeb is situated in a region that is also referred to as the Driftless Area. While including parts of eastern Minnesota, northeastern Iowa, and northwest Illinois, the Driftless Area is widely regarded as a distinct feature to the Wisconsin landscape, stretching across a total of eighteen different counties. Travelers who cross in and out of the territory today will note how its distinctive contours and impressive views emerge from wider, flatter expanses to the east, south, west, and north. These contours are the result of glaciers moving around this space, smoothing out the surrounding prairie in its path while leaving behind rolling hills. The Village of Mount Horeb is located in southwest Dane County. The geographic boundary of the Driftless Area runs down the center of the county creating a topographical division running east and west. Mount Horeb is located near Blue Mound State Park which has access to the Military Ridge State Trail. Located approximately twenty miles southwest of the state capital of Madison, Wisconsin, it is close to the University of Wisconsin–Madison located in that city.

Located along the major thoroughfare of U.S. Highway 151, Mount Horeb encompasses a total area a little more than three square miles.

When searching for insurance it is important to compare options to ensure the lowest costs and best coverages.

Although many people compare insurance options online, Cliff Insurance Agency, Inc provides a level of service that keeps you from having to use your valuable time and energy to do so. Once you have figured out which coverages you may want before looking at all the options out there, we can help you dial in the best policies for you from a wide variety of carriers. You could also lower insurance costs by reducing your coverage limits and increasing your deductibles. It is important to remember that a higher deductible typically means you will pay more out of pocket for a claim.

When you choose an auto policy that only satisfies your state’s minimum liability requirements your car insurance will likely be a lot less expensive. However, this type of coverage will not account for collision damage to your vehicle. Also, this policy type does not cover vandalism.

Remember that if your insurance premium is very low it is important to assess if you are happy with the coverage that it provides.

What Affects My Rates?

Car insurance companies look at a number of different variables when it comes to determining your insurance rates.

Age
Older drivers tend to pay less for insurance than younger drivers. This is because your sense of responsibility and judgement tend to get better as you age.

Your driving record
If you don’t have accidents and tickets on your record you will enjoy paying less for your car insurance. Simply put, the safer you drive the more you could save.

Where you live
Rates vary state to state. They can vary by zip code or even down to the city you live in. If you live in a densely-packed city with more traffic and crime when compared to a smaller city, then you might pay more than you would in a suburb or out in the country.

Marital status
Married or partnered? Depending on your state, you might see a lower premium than your single friends. Why? Statistics show that people who have a significant other are less likely to cause a collision.

Gender
Women tend to get in less accidents and have less speeding and DUI convictions when compared with the opposite sex. Because of this, women often pay less for their insurance in many states.
